Sustainable Agriculture Lead Farmer Programme
The Sustainable Agriculture Lead Farmer Programme (SALFP) is a program that aims to reduce poverty and vulnerability to climate change through the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices and the Lead Farmer Approach model of extension service delivery.
SALFP aims to address the challenges associated with accessing extension services and to increase food security and resilience of communities by implementing sustainable agriculture. The five-year programme (2014-2019) is led by the Development Fund of Norway with implementing partners: CEPA, African Institute of Corporative Citizenship (AICC), Find Your Feet (FYF), Heifer International, Malawi Union of Savings and Credit Cooperatives (MUSCO), Mzuzu Agricultural Development Division (MZADD), Network for Youth in Development (NFYD) and Trustees for Agricultural Promotion Programme (TAPP). SALFP is funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy.
In order to enhance policy implementation and to scale up sustainable agriculture and the lead farmer approach, the project will among others contribute to policy development related to agriculture, climate change, natural resources management and cross-cutting issues. CEPA is responsible for strengthening the policy and advocacy framework related to agriculture, climate change, natural resources and cross-cutting issues.
